Shout out to Misha Verdonck

A while ago, I ran into Misha Verdonck, who was in the UGhent's Creative Writing Group with me. Misha gave me their blog address and I would like to use this post to put one of their poems which I particularly liked in the spotlights.

It's called To the man who doesn’t believe in women/trans only spaces but calls himself a feminist.

It's such a strong poem! I particularly like this bit:

and i am taller
than your perception of me
i am wider
than the space you allow me
and i am sharper
than ALL the tools in your box

Misha goes on to point out that people create their own fears, and then hate the fears that they have created. They make others bear the brunt of this, just because the others happen not to fit into their preconceptions. I think that this poem is witty and sharp and that you should definitely go and read it in full!
